Scottish Winters Never End

Hiya guys! How are you all today? You are nearly there! You can almost touch the weekend... I'm quite excited about this weekend as I'm seeing my dad (haven't been down since October and haven't seen my dad since the week before Christmas...). Im hoping to put together a little post about it for next Monday. But Im not sure yet, I need to decide on where I want to take it? Not sure if I should just do a little travel/photo diary, or maybe do a post specifically on the city Carlisle? I guess I can just play it by ear! I'm also praying to the weather gods that it's slightly warmer there, we haven't really been blessed with temperature in a while. I just find it crazy that we are still wrapping up in hats, scarves & gloves, yet there are many people in the world able to wear shorts & sandals?

Before I go to my Dads, I have a lot I need to get done! I've been working all week (like most) so I haven't had the time or lighting to take photos of certain outfits. If I run out of time or lighting, I take photos on another day so I don't waste the look and I have content there If I need it. Plus, I'll be wanting actual outfit photos of what I'm wearing travelling so I need to give myself enough time before the train. If I don't have time, I'm not working next Wednesday so it can be done then. Also, we have an appointment at the vets for 2:30 as the fur babies need their injections! Plus I still actually need to pack! Which I will probably do after work tomorrow just so that's one thing ticked off the list! Oh the joys of being an adult...

If it is cold, I'll have plenty to keep me warm! I bought another scarf today from Topshop. I also got 2 for Christmas... One from Chris' aunt & another from secret Santa at work. I don't know why but I'm really loving scarfs! I have 1 pair of gloves to my name, as well just two hats. Again, one of them being a Christmas present. I just love wrapping something big and snuggly around my neck, then heading into the harsh Scottish air. Im sure you will see my newest addition on friday! I also spent the rest of my topshop card online. I picked up this gorgeous dress and can't wait to style it! It will look great during the day with some Dr Martens or the evening with a pair of heels. Dresses that can be worn during the day and night, are my favourite types of dress.

Jacket- Unif
T-Shirt- Hard Rock
Skirt- H&M
Bag- Skinny Dip
Shoes- Next

Outfit Details
I LOVE these shoes & the skirt. I picked both of them up in a sale. In fact, I got the shoes as a part of my uniform last year, they are so comfortable! And they are the most beautiful blue with a suede finish. Obviously going for the skirt first, I then opted for anything blue. Clearly. Although, my bag is mostly blue so I probably with for the bag more for the practicality rather than the little bit of blue on it... I was going for a smart but casual look the day I was wearing this,  I still wanted to look put together, but comfortable. So I opted for a classic black motif tee and some cool brogues. Overall, I look this look. I think it screams me. A preppy look with grungy vibes.

What are you looking forward to this weekend? What are you doing? Even if its nothing, let me know!

A Casual Halloween In Autumun

I had a successful & unsuccessful day today. How is that possible I hear you ask? Well, very easily. When I got up I had full intentions to film the video I never managed to, for my weekly upload yesterday. I thought well if I can at least get it up today, then that isn't too bad, Is it? So I set everything up, my background, my tripod, my camera & I was even sitting in the chair all ready to go. Poor Chris had even been banished to the bedroom with his laptop & headphones in tow. The cats had even been locked away, so there were no surprise visits in the background. As soon as I hit record, I bottled it and couldn't speak. Most of, if not all, my recent videos have been filmed while Chris was out the house.

aw16, ootd, what to wear, casual,

So I now feel super nervous & weird doing it with him in the flat. I don't mind filming vlogs in public or even filming with him in public as I feel I'm capturing that for us and our memories. But since I haven't really been filming properly again until recently, I've completely lost my confidence to do it. I know I will need to just do it once or even twice, to get over the first hump and embarrassment of doing it. But It's pushing yourself to get over that first hurdle that's the hardest...

aw16 style, glasgow fashion blogger, winter style,

So what was the successful part of today? Well, the fact I actually put on something nice & we took some time to photograph what I was wearing. Plus, I'm actually uploading it. Its been such a long time since we took outfit photos, & it's been even longer since I actually uploaded said photos to the blog. There's been a few times where we have managed to capture some photos, but they have either not been to the standard we wanted them to be to be able to share them (photography is one of those things you need to continually be doing or you can loose your touch a little).

Sometimes it's because I've not edited the photos or worse case scenario I have edited them and just forget to upload them! I'm going to start hanging any outfits I've worn on my rail, then if we get a day when the weather is nice or we haven't much to do, we are going to go out and have a "photo-taking" day. Outfit posts used to be all I shared on this blog & it isn't something I want to stop sharing on the blog. Its the main core of this blog!

We decided to go the cinema today and see Docter Strange, we pondered over going to see it yesterday but we decided today would be better. Why we decided to go today rather than yesterday, I have no idea. I'm considering doing a review on it, so if that is something you would be interested in, then please let me know in the comments below! Afterwards, we had dinner at Chris' parents, as tradition. Tonight we had lasagne, as well as sundried tomato, parma ham & mozzarella bruschetta for the starter. Spoilt, I know. Check out Chris' Instagram for a photo for our main!

Outfit Details
I bagged this dress, from the petite range at Asos, last winter. At first, I fell in love with the oversized design & pattern. Then, when it arrived, I fell in love with the heavy weight material. Its perfect for a Scottish winter! As I knew I was going to be sitting for a long period of time, I wanted something pretty comfy & slouchy so this recycled outfit was perfect. I'd already worn something similar, so I just changed a few things like the coat & shoes, from what I had originally worn earlier this week. In the spirit of the spooky season, I decided to pair my Halloween themed ballet pumps & spider ring from H&M. Everything else kind of fell together perfectly, a nice thick scarf from Topshop, to help with the lightweight feel of my jacket as well adding some layers & texture to the look. It also helped that colours matched the jeweled tones of the dress perfectly!

What have you been wearing recently? How are you coping with the continously changing weather? Let me know in the comments below! Speak soon guys.

Ariana Grande for Lipsy

So on Wednesday, we saw the launch of the beautiful mini popstar, Ariana Grande for Lipsy. & boy were we not disappointed! Of course the collection has her touches and style all over it. It has her signature feminine silhouettes, cuteness and sexiness. As soon as I heard that she was the next celebrity to be working with Lipsy, I felt dread and excitement! Excitement, because I knew it was going to be extremely beautiful & feminine. And the dread? The dread because I was going to want ALL OF IT. I knew it was going to be quite "girly" & "pink" but I'm glad to see she also used a lot of white and black. Even though it's pink, and that can be quite daunting for a lot of people, the use of different tones works well especially with all the little details she's added onto a lot of her dresses.

With this collection I feel she really has catered to a lot of people's tastes, she has the classic little black dress as well as the little white dress. She has bodycon fits, she has prom styles as well as frills galore. Plus, with a few of the items I feel with the right styling you would be able to pull them off as daywear as well. Which is what we all love right? A bit of versatility in our lives. I also feel that with such a variety of styles/items women & girls of all ages will be able to get something from this collection.

As I work at Next, we have a lipsy attached onto our store, so over the last few weeks I've been getting sneak previews here and there! I could not wait for wednesday... Just to see it all out in its glory. I think the colour scheme is definitely perfect for right now, as we are coming right into summer! So the bright colours, pinks & whites, are perfect.

I could not wait to decide what I wanted to get so I tried on about 4-5 items today after work! If I could, I would have everything below... But let's be honest, life doesn't work like that does it? I ended up going for the black frilly prom dress, and I've also put the beautiful white baroque skirt on hold... Which I've decided I'm just going to bite the bullet and go for it! Also, to be honest, for lipsy prices I think everything isn't bad at all! Don't get me wrong they are still a bit pricier than your average shop, but the prices for this collection runs from about £35- £68 and that's for the maxi dress.

Here are my favourite Items. Links below.

See the rest of the collection here.

Disclaimer: Although I have stated that I do work for Next and we have a lipsy shop attached, I am not being paid by any of the companies mentioned, or by my work to do this post. I just loved the collection and wanted to share that with you guys! That's what blogging is all about right?!

Wear Some Attitude With Those Boots

Yay, I have another outfit post! Originally on wednesday I had planned to shoot some outfits i'd worn but due to the weather or lighting I was unable to get photos. That didn't happen. Then today, I woke up it was nice weather I thought, yes, today is the day. But again, it was not meant to be. As I began to get ready the rain started so I didn't really want to spend time re-applying makeup and getting dressed up just for it to not happen. Plus, with the way our weather and short days are, you have to be really quick! So it's better to get something else shot rather than nothing at all. So as I was just jumping to the pharmacy to get some medication and doing a small food shop, I didn't really need to dress up too much. So casual & chic it was!

I know I said I didn't have the weather to put my other outfits on, but that would of taken time and time in Scotland at this time of the year is precious! I had things needing to get done and it was beginning to get late so it wasn't long before we would lose the light... I'd say that about an hour or so after we took these photos the evening grey skies had already began to set in. I have to say, i'm enjoying making casual outfits a bit more chic again. About a year ago I would just throw any old rubbish I could find. Most of the time that was just an oversized jumper and some doc martens... Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just wasn't even trying to make it look cool. I wanted to blend in the background.

I'm hoping to be able to get more outfit posts, but the weather is so unpredictable in Scotland! That's why Chris and I are thinking about getting up earlier one day a week and just shooting everything I've worn! I know I normally post what i've worn that day on the day, but you will only get 1-2 post every 2 weeks if you are lucky! Even though I've made changes on the blog, I still want to keep posting outfit posts as much as I can, as I do enjoy doing them and keeping to what this blog was originally about!

Jacket- Topshop
Shirt- Topshop at Charity Shop
Jeans- Next
Boots- H&M
Bag- River Island
Hat- H&M

Outfit Details
Chris and I went out last night for dinner for a date night and I wore this shirt. In all honesty, when I woke up this morning, it was lying on the floor. I didn't hesitate in grabbing it whatsoever. I'm not even ashamed. Its great to add a little more "put together in outfit". I thought the corduroy jeans would look great, keeping the casual in this outfit very firmly on the ground. Also, I adore them. I'm loving that they are cords as well as being bootcut rather than the safe skinny jeans we all know & love. Once I picked these two pieces everything else seem to fall into place. The cardigan with the burgundy details & being cozy, the bomber jacket with its cool & casual edge. As well as my trusty three. My hat, one of my all time favourite go tos to make an outfit cool, my burgundy bag. Which has sadly broken. And my burgundy suede & leather ankle boots. The day these give up on me will be another sad day.

US Independence Day

Hiya all, late post i know. Plus i also know i missed yesterdays & todays "everyday post". I suck i know but i'll get them up over the next few days instead, please don't judge me... Today i travelled down to Carlisle, as that's where my dad and his family are from, as its my little brother's birthday in a few days. Since my dad is no longer with Thomas' mum, he either comes the weekend before or after to celebrate with this side. I can't actually believe or accept the fact that he's even going to be 9... I mean, i'm sure you will all understand this but, when people used to say "Oh! It seems like just yesterday you were born...", you would be like what?! How can that even be possible? Well, you younger folk out there, it is. It DOES feel like just yesterday when i was meeting him for the first time. It's scary. But on one hand, it's been awesome to see the little guy develop into a proper little person! I'm excited to see the kind of person he'll turn into and the type of adult he will be.

So the plans are to wake up tomorrow and see what kind of day it's going to be. If it's a nice day i think we are taking a picnic to the local park with some of our other family, if not then its bowling! It should be good fun, been a while since i actually seen everyone so i'm looking forward to the reunion with the crazies ;)

Also, on the topic of independance day, it's actually making me a little bit excited! Many of you may, or may not know (depending on your age & where you are from) but, Scotland are getting a vote on the 18th September (9 days before we get married!) to become independent from the UK or not. I will probably go more into this in a discussions post nearer the time but, yes i am voting for independence. So the thought of maybe having our own celebration like this in the future made me want to actually dress for the occasion today. Alot of exciting things happening in the next few months!

Bag- Lost Mannequin (birthday present from Chris!) buy here

OUTFIT DETAILS
So as i said, i was dressing for the occasion... You can't really go wrong with the classic american red, blue & white stars. I originally was going to go for something else, not quite sure what, but then i remembered i had this dress. Perfect. I thought i good ol'classic converse shoe to go with the "american themes", plus they are red and have a white star on them. It was also pouring down today so i had to throw on tights, as well as my trusty unif (vegan) leather jacket. It also helped add that "dark edge" i need to have in every outfit. Also i couldn't leave without adding a "cowboy" lookalike hat... I used this backpack as i was travelling and it carries a tonne of things! But can i just say, how fucking awesome is it?! One of my favourite possessions, i was super happy when i seen Chris had gotten me it. Its really spacious inside with a TONNE of pockets!

FAMILY DAYS

Hiya lovelies!  I've had such a fantastic day on Saturday. I met up with my dad (technically step-dad but i grew up with him being my dad) who i hadn't seen in 3 years! I was so excited, the whole drive up to Glasgow my chest was just buzzing. It was so nice to be able to sit down and have a chat face to face, as well as meeting his wife to be! She was so lovely and i really couldn't be happier for the both of them. Chris came with me as well, but first my dad and i had an hour or so together, before we met with Laura, her two boys (who were also very sweet and cute!) and her mum! We then went to one of mine and my dads favourite restaurant! The Hard Rock Cafe in Glasgow that is still fairly new! My dad was/is a total hard rock geek and he got me into it a few years ago. I LOVE the franchise and really couldn't be happier that there is now one in Glasgow. The nearest one after that is Edinburgh and lets be honest, that really is a loooong way to go for a meal! So i was an extremely happy girl yesterday, seen my dad, got fed some Hard Rock food and now have a Glasgow Hard Rock Cafe top to join my other ones in my wardrobe...

Chris and i are also babysat my older cousins wee boys that night. I guess in a way they are my "nephews" they do both call me auntie... But i have no idea what they would be in "real family terms" :P I don't mind being an auntie, its kind of cool. Its the best of both worlds, you get act like an adult and look after kids but you dont have the full responsibility and stresses of being a real parent... I love kids and i can't wait to have them, even though i'm waiting at least 5-10 years before i have my first. Hence why i like to look after them once in a while and its nice to hear them excited about spending time with you. As you are the/a "cool auntie". Plus Chris and i really want to travel and just have time for ourselves before we really settle down... I mean we are still young. Not that i have a problem with young parents, i just don't want to be a young parent!

My Dad and i at Hard Rock Cafe! :D

Creepers- Underground at Viper London buy here
Hat- H&M
Sunglasses- H&M
Bag- Roxy
Socks- Asos similar here

OUTFIT DETAILS
As i was going to be walking around Glasgow all day, i wanted something that would be comfy, chic and had my style thrown in somewhere! We finally had some hot sun as well, hence why my legs are on show! I also thought the fish net socks were super cool and different to normal socks so i threw them on. I love this dress its very summery, light and makes me feel super feminine! Even though i am a girl i try to stay away from things that are super girly! So obviously i added my chunky creepers and my slightly oversized leather jacket. Just to make me feel a bit more comfortable and in my style! I really need to try and wear this dress more, especially in the summer.

THE FLOWERS HAVEN'T COME OUT TO PLAY YET...

Hiya everyone! How has your thursday been? I've had a pretty nice relaxing day to be honest. Chris and i went for some lunch with his Gran at Frankie and Bennys. As usual, we all ate way too much! I didn't grab any photos for instagram as i was too interested in actually eating as i was starving, we hadn't eaten anything yet. So by the time we were actually served some food i just wanted it to be in my tummy as quick as possible. I doubt we will even eat much dinner later... I think i'm just gonna pop to the local Co-op and grab a chicken and mushroom pot noodle for later! I know its not the healthiest option but at least its something, i could just not eat at all and thats even un-healthier. Although, as i'm typing this i've remembered we have some nice "subway" type of rolls in the cupboards and that could be quite nice. Plus its healthy.

To be honest, i'm not one of those people who are obsessed with healthy things and trying to make as many healthy choices for myself & my body as i can. I pretty much eat what i fancy. But i do want to make healthy choices where i can because obviously i want to be healthy. Doesn't mean i'm going to become one of those people who constantly watch their diet and stick to a strict routine. If i can go for a healthier option rather than unhealthy then i'm going to try and choose healthy. Ive also started doing a zumba class on a monday at half six as i don't do any exercise at all and i want to get/be fit! I'm also going to start going to my older cousins on a wednesday morning to do her zumba dvd with her. So fingers crossed it all pays off and i feel better in myself.

Jacket- Topshop
Dress/Skirt- New Look
T-shirt- Muse Concert
Heels- New Look
Bag*- Misstella buy here
Hat- H&M
Necklace- Topshop

OUTFIT DETAILS
I decided to go for a layered look today as i wanted to do more with my dress rather than wear it just as a dress. I then decided to wear these heels again as i forgot how much i love them! As well as them being easy to grab... I then chose the bag and coat as i haven't really been using them alot recently! Also they both have brown and black on them, so i thought that would go quite well. Since i got my UNIF union jack coat i sadly turned my back on these little bomber... But i love it just as much as when i first got it! Also, i was worried you guys were maybe getting a bit bored of seeing this bag all the time, but to be honest i was as well. I just wanted to change it up a bit!
