A Yellow Summers Dress In The Highlands

Hey everyone, how are you all today? Did you have a good weekend? Do anything or nothing... You can catch up with my goings on over on Instagram. I went and seen Grease at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow last Wednesday with Chris. It was soo good! It's one of, if not my most favourite musical! I used to watch it on repeat all the time, as well as maybe knowing all the words off by heart? There are a few photos on my Instagram if you want a little nosy. Also, if you would like proper outfit post/photos then please let me know in the comments here or on Instagram. I know I've been MIA for quite a few months but I'm not going to talk about it too much right now. I just want to talk about my outfit and what I have been to in the last week or so.

A few years ago Chris' parents booked a cabin in Arrach. The first time they went with their parents & we just visited for the day. Along with other members of Chris' family, who can say no to beautiful sites & a try of a hot tub! The first post I did was I'll Meet You At The Bridge all the way back in 2013! So excuse the quality of everything... Then the following year (the year we got married! 2014) they booked another wee break last minute! Luckily for us, we were invited up again for the day. It's such a great opportunity for outfit photos & photography. Plus its nice to be able to go out and explore, if you want to know more in detail about what we got up to, what I wore and to see the beautiful sites take a look at my post Losing Myself In Argyll, Scotland. So that will give you a bit of a back story of where I'm going with this...

As you can see, we have a slight love for the ol'Scottish cabin holiday... We aren't the only ones though, the whole family enjoys them! So last year Chris' Gran decided to treat the whole family and take us back here again. I think it was around this same time last year? I could be right or wrong here, I've no idea! Well, I was super excited! Everyone together, I would get to cuddle the babies, plenty of good food & a bbq on the cards! We can never be too sure about the weather though, I was just excited about the food mostly... So to set the weekend off we ended up going to Amarettos, which I've talked about many times before and shared food photos on my Instagram. Then as we were walking towards the car I started to get these sharp pains in my abdomen, being of the female kind, I just put it down to being that time of the month. So off we head, a convoy of about 4 cars? One after the other.

This cat actually just roamed freely around the village shop. She also belonged to the village postman and was called Jess! Super cute, I couldn't help but get some photos and cuddles! Her bed was on the counter next to the till.

As we continue along the journey my tummy starts to feel even worse & then it hits me. Im going to be sick. With nowhere to stop and going about 50 odd miles, I had to throw my head out the window and get on with it... As you can imagine, it was not a pretty picture and one of my least favourite memories of my life. So unfortunately, for the next 2-4 days I spent them in bed, in agony and running to the toilet every so often. I may have come out near the end, but I was worried about infecting everyone. Especially the wee babies! Still to this day, I've no idea what brought it on. Chris & I ate the same meals the few days before so I can't have food poisoned us, plus it doesn't work that quickly once you've just eaten. So it can't have been the meal. I assumed it was a bug, but no one caught it off me!

So that gets you all caught up on where I'm going with this! We were then invited down for a night when they booked and when it was coming closer to the date. So of course we were up for that, can't say no to a hot tub can we? A few weeks ago I then ended up in hospital for a wee while (detailed post coming soon). So after that happening and not being able to enjoy the last trip, I think they felt that we both needed a wee trip away (& fattening up, especially me!). Which, Chris & I also agreed would be good for the both of us. With some great food once again, the chance of some sun & beautiful views. A relaxed weekend just before I returned to work was just what I needed! So thanks again Cammy & Suzy!

As I knew it was going going to be a casual weekend, with the possibility of walking, I wanted to be pretty comfy and prepared for the sun. On the second day we decided to go exploring because it was a beautiful day, I'm sure you can see from the photography I shot. I didn't even plan for outfit photos, but when I seen this stunning backdrop I couldn't not! Everything matched pretty well so I didn't waste the opportunity. Plus who really knows when I'll be back here? The dress is a very pretty summery yellow, with flowers all over. I thought it would go great with my comfy red cons. Before we went we knew on the last day we would be going out, Sunday/last day tradition! So I made sure to pack my cute little black bag. I used my backpack on the journey down, packed with all my crap. So I kept with in the same family of tones with my sunglasses & lipstick. I also wanted to add to the girlyness & cuteness with the dress, so I added some frilly white socks!

What do you think of the outfit, what would you do differently? Is seeing the scottish countryside on your to do list? Where would you like to visit! Let me know in the comments below, I'd love to chat to you guys.

Scottish Winters Never End

Hiya guys! How are you all today? You are nearly there! You can almost touch the weekend... I'm quite excited about this weekend as I'm seeing my dad (haven't been down since October and haven't seen my dad since the week before Christmas...). Im hoping to put together a little post about it for next Monday. But Im not sure yet, I need to decide on where I want to take it? Not sure if I should just do a little travel/photo diary, or maybe do a post specifically on the city Carlisle? I guess I can just play it by ear! I'm also praying to the weather gods that it's slightly warmer there, we haven't really been blessed with temperature in a while. I just find it crazy that we are still wrapping up in hats, scarves & gloves, yet there are many people in the world able to wear shorts & sandals?

Before I go to my Dads, I have a lot I need to get done! I've been working all week (like most) so I haven't had the time or lighting to take photos of certain outfits. If I run out of time or lighting, I take photos on another day so I don't waste the look and I have content there If I need it. Plus, I'll be wanting actual outfit photos of what I'm wearing travelling so I need to give myself enough time before the train. If I don't have time, I'm not working next Wednesday so it can be done then. Also, we have an appointment at the vets for 2:30 as the fur babies need their injections! Plus I still actually need to pack! Which I will probably do after work tomorrow just so that's one thing ticked off the list! Oh the joys of being an adult...

If it is cold, I'll have plenty to keep me warm! I bought another scarf today from Topshop. I also got 2 for Christmas... One from Chris' aunt & another from secret Santa at work. I don't know why but I'm really loving scarfs! I have 1 pair of gloves to my name, as well just two hats. Again, one of them being a Christmas present. I just love wrapping something big and snuggly around my neck, then heading into the harsh Scottish air. Im sure you will see my newest addition on friday! I also spent the rest of my topshop card online. I picked up this gorgeous dress and can't wait to style it! It will look great during the day with some Dr Martens or the evening with a pair of heels. Dresses that can be worn during the day and night, are my favourite types of dress.

I LOVE these shoes & the skirt. I picked both of them up in a sale. In fact, I got the shoes as a part of my uniform last year, they are so comfortable! And they are the most beautiful blue with a suede finish. Obviously going for the skirt first, I then opted for anything blue. Clearly. Although, my bag is mostly blue so I probably with for the bag more for the practicality rather than the little bit of blue on it... I was going for a smart but casual look the day I was wearing this,  I still wanted to look put together, but comfortable. So I opted for a classic black motif tee and some cool brogues. Overall, I look this look. I think it screams me. A preppy look with grungy vibes.

What are you looking forward to this weekend? What are you doing? Even if its nothing, let me know!

Easy Like A Sunday Morning (OOTD)

Hiya guys! Last time I spoke to you, it was only the beginning of the week... Now we are about half way through! Yay, we are all going to make it to the end. I have to admit, though, my week hasn't been bad. Slow maybe, but not a bad week. I hope its been the same for you, except maybe going a bit faster? With working in retail, my busy/stress levels depend on how many people are shopping. But since its just after Christmas, believe or not, there aren't many people spending money right now. At times the shop can be basically empty! I finish tomorrow for the weekend though so it isn't too bad. Although, I've got a lot going on so I'll probably blink and be back at work again. Its always the same isn't it? The time you want to hold onto slips through your fingers before you know it. And the time you want to skip goes slower than a snail.

Now, if you were here on Monday then you will have seen my post about my local favourite & new brunch/lunch series? If not just click on the link to have a quick read & then come back! Well, this is the outfit I wore that day (& the next after work to go food shopping, I recycle outfits if they have only been worn for 2/3 hours). I didn't post it all together because I want to keep my outfit posts separate from other types of posts. That doesn't mean if I'm posting about a day out I won't share any photos of me in it, I'll just save the majority of the photos and details for an actual post itself. I just think if I'm talking about a certain topic, I don't really want to be adding photos of myself posing in random locations. I don't know, it just doesn't work for me.

Im actually quite happy with how these photos turned out, I don't know why, but both Chris & I agreed that I didn't quite look like I was into it this time. I didn't feel like I was either, no idea why! I feel like I just didn't know what to do in front of the camera. It's strange you know, taking photos of yourself in outfits, then posting it on the internet... For me, I always go into knowing what I want, how I want to look and feel. As well as how the whole photo looks and feels. If I don't see or feel the connection, then I feel like I lose it a little. I wanted it to look a bit more casual & cool. Jumped out of bed, thrown it together and ran out the door kind of vibe. I think I ended up with something completely different to want I intended in my head, but Im still happy with it and I think it all somehow works. Even the location & editing.

As it was a fairly casual Sunday, I didn't want anything too fussy or fancy! This tartan dress really is a favourite of mine to just throw on, It looks great with a lot of things. I knew I wanted to wear these awesome metallic boots, I think the super pointed toes really make them for me and add a great touch to any look. Again, keeping to the casual theme, I wanted a cardigan to just snuggle into. Because of the speckling effect, I thought this specific cardigan would match perfectly with the boots. They also have a slight speckling detail to them. Bag-wise I went for my trusty, spacious leather backpack. I thought it matched the dark/grungy vibe already had going on with this look. Plus, as I was going to be fairly busy in this outfit I had a lot I needed to carry. There are more pockets than I know what to do with them...

Mom Always Says Wrap Up Warm

How are you today? Glad to have arrived at the weekend? I've been quite unwell. I had so many plans to get blog work done yesterday & today, as well as household chores... But I guess it was not meant to be! I've been pretty much bedridden for the past 24 hours, except for the last few maybe, I've been on the sofa! At least I'm feeling better now though as I have work tomorrow and I really can't be calling in sick! If I still felt like I did yesterday, then I would of had no choice... This look is from a few weeks ago when I went to see my Gran and Grandad for a few hours. So something comfortable was definitely on the cards. Plus, I was dying to show off my new coat & boots I had gotten in the sale.

Im trying to set myself little blogging tasks everyday, as well as using my time wisely. For example, on the way to work yesterday, I had to get the bus due to my start time being much later than Chris'. Because I knew I'd have about half an hour to play with, I pre-edited some blog photos. So if I've maybe not posted in a few days I've got some content for you guys! Plus, I've also started batch taking outfit photos as the weather is a bit unpredictable in Scotland! It also has a habit of getting pretty dark quite early. Although, the evenings seemed to already be getting lighter. Which is great, because it just gives you a bit more time to play around with. Especially if you are having to run out in between light rain showers!

Although, exciting news! Come this time next year, well I'm hoping at least by August, I'm going to have a perfectly awesome space in the flat to take photos and film videos agains! We have a two bedroom flat and recently decided to move in to the bigger room, thus leaving a spare room which already has my built in wardrobe with all my clothes... So Chris generously suggested that I could have it as a potential walk in wardrobe! Hurrah! It makes sense really, I already have my clothes in there as well as 6ft clothing rail and I don't think we want to stay here for our first baby... Even if we did decided to do that, that's all in the future we can decide those details then. For now, I'm just excited to have some space to blog and create.

As I said I was just visiting my Gran and Grandad for a few hours so I knew I wanted/needed something casual & comfy. But also chic. We've been getting the odd really cold day here and there so I thought this burgundy polo jumper would be great, the colours would match my new fluffy cream shearling jacket from Next as well as my new cream suede ankle boots, also from Next. The jeans are also really fun and quirky, totally up my street! So I couldn't help but pair everything with these. I was lucky enough to get these for my birthday from Chris. They were actually in my birthday wishlist post. Since discovering the brand at asos, its really made me want to check out other stuff! They have some pretty funky designs! Plus, they also have a petite section which is music to my ears!

What do you like to wear when It's cold? What are your go to winter staples? I look forward to seeing in the comments, speak soon!

Why Is It Always So Cold?

So this is my first official outfit post of 2017! Yay! It feels so so so good to be posting something like this again. I know in my birthday post I talked about sharing different topics here, but outfit posts are where I started! Fashion, is, has been and always will be a staple topic on here! Its something that really is a huge and important part of who I am as a person... I love creating looks, especially ones to match my different moods. Just the way beauty gurus have more than one look, I'm the same with my outfits. Sometimes, I love the cute girly look with a lovely dress and some cute heels. Then other days i'm feeling nothing but rock n grungy vibes. I do feel I'll always channel that inner rock child though, its where i've always felt my most comfortable. Plus, I just love really edgy and cool clothes. Especially those with the grungy 90s vibe.

I think wherever I am in my life, no matter what I'm doing, I think I will always express myself through clothes and dressing up. I enjoy being able to make myself different everyday and I enjoy too many styles and items of clothing to limit myself to just one strict box! In the next year I'm really looking forward to pushing myself style-wise as well as artistically. I'm also looking forward to what type of content I'm able to create for youtube this year. I think youtube really helps you to express or share yourself in ways that blogging can't. For one, straight off the bat I feel it's more personal. Just because its a live image of yourself.

I was saying earlier tonight to my husband Chris, no matter where the whole online industry goes, I will always blog. I know many are saying that instagram & snapchat are where its going, but many of the online generation came from blogging. I doubt that it will be brushed aside that easily. Plus, they also say this about new forms of entertainment. When the t.v first came out that was to be the end of the radio generation. Yet we still turn it on every single day. Its the same for traditional tv, many are now flocking to online forms of video entertainment. Whether its youtube, twitch of even vevo. There is always going to be the next big new thing, but it doesn't always mean the end of something! Anyways, more outfit posts following soon! Already so much planned for this year.

I wore this yesterday and wanted to keep it quit casual & comfy. As well as significantly warm and full of layers. We were off for our first weekly shop of the year, so I didn't need a huge jacket. When doing indoor things, I like to keep my jacket quite light with an extra layer like a cardigan on underneath. I didn't want to keep going for the slightly oversized black tee, so opted for this fun red one instead. I kept the colour of my lipstick within the same family. I thought the tight pencil skirt was a cute add to the oversized/casual look, plus I enjoyed pairing it with a more dressed down look. Since I'm always wearing this little black bag, I thought it would be rude not to use it again. Plus its great everyday bag fits the essentials!

Happy Birthday 5ft Life

So today marks the day that I officially created this blog & started over. For any of you who has been here since the beginning, then you will know how I first started out. As a gawky 17-year-old, I created Addictions to Shopping, a fashion blog. The name was more about tongue & cheek, rather than a serious problem. My mum, who was still here at the time, used to always moan about how much I bought & how I had a problem. When in reality, I bought no more than the average girl at that age, with her first part-time job with her own money. All I wanted to do was take photos of my outfits, with the hopes of inspiring others. Hopefully give someone the confidence to wear what they wanted.

As I got older, the blogging world changed, as did my hobbies & interests. I also decided to start creating videos and posting those online also. As I grew as a person I began to feel I had more than just style to share, not that there's anything wrong with that. Plus I wanted to influence people in other ways, share my views and continue to inspire people. Now I know I still haven't posted or shared as much as I've wanted too, but I'm not letting that phase me anymore. I blog when and where I can. Sometimes when it's busy at work, I'm pretty much working full time as well as having adult life to catch up with on the weekend. So this year, my focus will be more on planning and using my time more efficiently. I think it's great to have a schedule, but I don't want to fill up so much that I become overwhelmed and hide in a dark, dingy hole somewhere...

london, glasgow photographer, scottish photographer, photography, london, big ben,

Something else I want to focus on this year is the variety of content I am putting out there. I've mentioned many times how I'm a foodie, I enjoy trying new restaurants just as much as I enjoy throwing something together myself. So I want to share that with you guys, try to change it up just a little bit more than I am right now. I have to say, I am very excited about where this year is going to take me blogging/social media wise.  I've already seen my Instagram & youtube community growing more and attracting interest, so it just goes to show what a little bit of hard work can do! That's the great thing about all of this though, when I am creating & working on my blog pieces, it doesn't feel like work... I love all of this so much.
