Birthday Wishlist 2016

It's coming up to my 23rd birthday in a few weeks, 26th of November to be exact. Just in case you want to make a note for your diary... I have some mixed feelings about it. It seems only yesterday that I was even leaving my teens behind, to be now heading directly into my 20s is a little crazy to me... I sometimes panic that I'm not going to have enough time to do everything I want to do! Even when I tell coworkers or people of an "older generation" that I'm getting old, they just laugh at me & say I've got my whole life ahead of me. I don't think it helps when my baby face is staring at them, talking about ageing. So I have to try and remind myself what I have seen and done so far, as well as realising people are living right up to their 90s nowadays. Not that I think I should ignore the fact that time is passing by significantly quicker than it used too... But It does make me more determined to conquer the world, to see & hear as much of it as possible. Because there is still so much more to be done!

So since it is coming up to my birthday, I thought it would be pretty cool to share what I'm currently eyeing up. As well as giving some hints to my nearest & dearest... I'm not expecting to receive everything here, some of these things I'm hoping to maybe catch in the Black Friday sale. It's actually fallen on the weekend of my birthday this year. I went crazy last black Friday, but I'm not planning to this year. If anything from this list has money off during black friday and I haven't gotten it as a present, then yes I will probably buy it myself to say Happy Birthday. I'm not embarrassed to treat myself just because I'm getting older, any excuse to get a little treat. This year I'm more interested in the boxing day sales. Just because there isn't anything I'm overly desperate to get, but it will be great to see what deals there are after Christmas. So if I get any money, I think I'm just going to save it this year.

Who knows, since it is coming up to that time of year. Maybe you'll take inspiration from this yourselves. Maybe you'll see something for a family member, or a close friend. Or maybe you'll even see something you would like for yourself! Let me know what you think in the comments below. I would love to hear what you're asking for this year. For your birthday or Christmas!

present ideas, mum, sister, aunt, cousin, make up, colourpop, asos, river island, bags, knee high boots, wantlist, birthday wantlist christmas wantlist, lipstick, backpack, clutch, sd card,

Grab A Cuppa (Or Whatever) & Lets Chat

Should Makeup Be Allowed At School?

So I was just browsing on facebook last week, when I seen an article someone had shared. It was about teachers at a school patrolling the corridors with wet wipes, so they could force the girls to take off their makeup. Now, before I even start on this I already know this is going to bring up a lot of viewpoints, so please be kind towards one another in the comments & remember everyone is entitled to their own view.

Firstly, I think I may start with my own opinions on the whole "should we wear makeup", I feel If someone wants to and they love make up because they enjoy playing around with it and creating art with their own faces. Then why shouldn't someone wear it? For the past year or two, I myself, If you know me at all will know I don't wear makeup whatsoever (well, except for lipstick), but I have found myself thoroughly enjoying makeup tutorials on youtube and have seen how much people just enjoy playing around with it. Its their hobby. So why should anyone tell them not to do it, or they should just be comfortable in their own skin. What if they already are?

-Human Traffic, 1999

I know that wearing makeup is a double edged sword for a lot of women, because so many are uncomfortable or less confident when they aren't wearing makeup. But, we need to remember that doesn't mean every female out there is wearing makeup because "society" tells us we aren't beautiful without it, or that they are doing it for someone. There are beauty youtubers who genuinely just sit in front of a camera, with no intentions of going anywhere and create tutorials for people to copy because they enjoy the art & craft of makeup. I do also believe in self-confidence though. Hence the double edged sword. So even though I think its fine to want to wear makeup, I think it's important that you feel you can leave the house without panicking. Teenage/School years are really difficult times for alot of young people. So we can all relate to wanting to use makeup, especially when we feel we look terrible...

I think what a lot of people or rather I should say, the education boards at schools, worry that its distracting and that people are there to learn. Which, I don't disagree with, yes we are there to learn. But this school are pulling students from classrooms during lesson time, just to take makeup off, that's going to be more harmful. Plus, when they come back in they aren't going to feel very motivated are they? But I feel it's also important to teach self-expression & individuality.  As I do more posts like this, you will see that I am quite anti-establishment and I feel schools teach us this from a young age to confirm and stay quiet. When in reality, we should be being taught to speak up more and to think ourselves. With makeup I feel it gives people bit more of an identity as well, because we all like to do our makeup differently and using different shades. Which can help when you are all in the same uniform looking alike...

-Source here

I think what's also important, is schools need to be careful when they are crossing that boundary of whether it actually has anything to do with them. These pupils are leaving the house with makeup already on. With makeup already bought, which let's be honest, is being bought majority of the time by their parents. What teenager has money for a £40 urban decay palette? I don't even have that kind of money... So if parents are buying it for them and watching them leave the house with it already on, it should be ok. You can't really get in the way of what parents allow their own children to do.

I think something else that should be highlighted and talked about is the constant need to tell females what they should and shouldn't be doing. Being told what affects us and that we are distracting for the opposite sex. Doing this from a young age can be damaging. It also teaches young girls early on that they need to think about what society thinks of them and how they should behave. When in all reality, it shouldn't matter. Those thoughts shouldn't even come into their heads, but they do because we teach them to think like that. Why shouldn't they be allowed to pop a bit of makeup on to feel good? It's a tough age, so shouldn't we encourage them to do what makes them happy? Especially if they are outside the school gates crying because of how they are feeling about the way they look. I wear lipstick to make myself feel that extra bit special and fancy, especially if I feel I've put together a nice outfit.

So in conclusion, I really do feel that pupils wearing makeup to school is a non-issue. I think the teachers, not just in this school but everywhere, should be focusing their time & energy into getting the pupils more focused and engaged. Helping them grow their confidence in their educational abilities. Not worrying about being attacked by a wet wipe. Finding new and interesting ways to teach them, getting them interested and expanding their minds. I think a bit of adult face paint is hardly important.

A NEW DIRECTION

Hiya guys!
So since it is the 1st of June today i thought i would tell you about the new direction i'm wanting to take the blog in! Im wanting to expand a lot more on what i already post & talk about on here. I want to have a post everyday for you to read even if i'm not posting any outfit posts. Each day will have a set post or posts that i will always do each week regardless of what is happening in my day to day life.  Even if i'm posting an outfit of the day post i will still post about other topics on that day. I'm not going to have set days for outfit posts, they will just happen when they happen, i feel that is better than having set days to post about my style as i feel its more realistic. As well as this being a daily style blog.

So here is what will be happening!

Monday
Lifestyle-
The kind of lifestyle posts that i want to do will consist of tips on daily life things, showing you more of my bunnies, organisation, cooking & home things.

Tuesday
Discussions-
I want to call this section of the blog "Grab a cuppa & lets chat" as 1) I'm a huge lover of tea & 2) I want all of you to get as involved as possible with this. I want to hear your opinions & thoughts on whatever the topic is. The discussions will be about a variety of topics from popular stuff mentioned in the media such as; The Miley Cyrus at MTV awards scandal. To random things such as people sneaking into the cinema, acceptable or not? I hope you understand where i am going with this...

YouTube-
I am also now uploading a video every tuesday to my youtube & i thought i should probably mention that on here as well!

Wednesday
Reviews-
There are TONNES of things that i want to review & share with you. Such as movie reviews, restaurant, products, bags/clothes, music/albums, concerts & even the theatre! Through doing reviews like this i also hope to reveal to you all more what i'm into. I also think this will be quite a helpful section to a lot of people as we are always looking for peoples thoughts on things.

Thursday
Fashion-
Now i may hear you saying right now, fashion? But isn't that what your blog is mainly about anyway & dosent the "outfit of the day" posts count as that? Well, in a short answer, yes. But i want to share with you the brands i'm into, designers, high street stores & the items i'm currently loving. As well as putting together different outfits for different events for inspiration or help. There will also be ebay finds, want lists, deals & cheaper options to the more expensive ones. As well as delving into fashion week when they are on!

Friday
Beauty-
I'm not really a huge "beauty" person but i do want to start bringing beauty to the blog. I will start with fairly simple posts such as; my daily skin routine. I then hope to go onto any cool tips i've found, diy ideas & reviews which will also link in with the Review section of my blog. As well as showing you favourite products that i have & collections.

Saturday (Sometimes)
Photography-
As i am technically a "photographer" i really want to start showcasing more of my work on here. I also want to start doing some street-style photography if i'm popping into town to see what people are currently wearing. As i feel that can be a huge source of inspiration for a lot of people and because i set up this blog initially to help inspire people i thought it would be a good to bring street-style photos to the blog.  I'm also hoping that, by introducing a photography category to my blog it will push me to start taking more photos again!

So that is what will be changing around here! I'm not starting this straight away i thought id give a months notice & count down every time i post... So at the beginning of next month a new Addictions to Shopping will be here! I really hope you are looking forward to it as much as i am :D

REVIEW: NAILTIQUES CUTICLE CARE OIL

The Brand
Nailtiques is a Florrida based brand that has been going since 1990. They are an innovator of healthy natural nails. Which is why they believe in using the highest quality of ingredients as well as using as many natural ingredients that they can. There are multiple products that they have which can be used for many of your nail problems! I love any brands that use natural substances in their products, as i feel they are much better and useful for you and your body.

The Product
This is a cuticle care oil which can be used to help your nails and cuticles if they are dry, as well as locking in the moisture, so that you aren't having to re-apply throughout the day. It has a lot plant oils in it such as safflower seed oil, hemp seed oil (which is cannabis oil), avocado oil and tea tree oil. Which for me is a biggie as i'm more likely to believe that the product actually works as its not pumped full of chemicals. Its all nature working its magic! Theres also vitamin A & E in it. Oh and not to mention the smell of it! Its gorgeous and it lingers around for a while as well so your finger tips smell heavenly, its not a clinical smell at all!

Applying
Luckily, the application is with a roller so its very easy and handy to use. You don't have to try and dribble a bit out and end of wasting half of it! I would say to use 2-4 strokes along the length of your nail, whatever the size of your nails may be, then use your fingertips to gently rub it in. As well as rubbing into the skin around your nails, as it can help with the dryness around them. Before you apply you need to make sure your hands are washed and are dry (I also like to cream my hands at the same time, just so that they are getting their moisture & care, two birds with one stone i say). How many times a day/week you apply i would say is preference. It will depend on how your nails feel to you, i personally only applied it a few times a week but i have heard that people like to apply a few times a day. So you will have to decide. I'm not sure if wearing nail polish will affect how many times you apply as i wasn't wearing nail polish at the time of testing!

Does it do what it says on the tin?
Well i have to say i was hugely surprised (im a bit of beauty sceptic), i really did feel/find a difference in my nails. I could actually touch how soft and un-dry they had become (as well as smelling reaaaally good). I wasn't even using it a lot. I had planned to use it every day of the week but due to my forgetfulness, there was the odd day i forgot to apply it. So due to the fact i was only applying a few strokes per nail 3-6 times a week AND my nails still manage to feel awesome. I would say that this product most definitely does what it says on the tin.

Rating
8/10
The reason for this rating is the price. I personally find it a lot of money for what the product does. If you are a huge beauty/nail fanatic then maybe you don't mind spending that amount of money and its what you want/need so you'll spend it. But for me i think its a lot, saying that though, the brand is all about natural ingredients, promoting "healthy nails" and i am a sucker for a product with natural stuff rather than man made chemicals.

Disclaimer: I have been gifted this cuticle care oil all opinions are mine. I will never accept a product if i do not like it or work with a company/brand if i do not like them.

REVIEW: ESSIE PEAK OF CHIC

Ring*- Romwomen buy here
Earrings- Primark
Brooch- Vintage

The Product
This nail polish is a part of a new encrusted collection by Essie, there are about six different gemmed goodies that you can choose from. This one is more whitish with tiny white and silver flakes, which can sometimes catch the light and give off a sparkle! Very glamourous & elegant looking! Its meant to be a "textured" kind of nail polish, rather than your usual glittery ones, which i totally agree with and understand where they were going with it. The nail polish does give a 3D effect to your nails. It can ether be used as a top coat over another colour or just by itself (or thats what i've tried with it anyway!). I've tried both just to try and give you an idea of the effect it does have and what it can look like. I would personally use it with and without another product as i think it looks great ether way. Its up to you at the end of the day!

Applying
At first, it is a little weird as there are little bits in the nail polish and you don't expect to feel a difference to usual nail polish. Sometimes you do have to move the glitter into place on your nail, which of course means it can take a while to fully apply to both of your hands. It also depends as well on how many layers you apply. I would personally suggest you try with one, then work up to your preference. You will have to give the first layer plenty of time to dry, as it could mean that the glitter will easily move when applying again. For my nails, i added two layers as i wanted a more opaque glittery look.

1st Coat

2nd Coat

Durability
I was very impressed with how sturdy it was! I was worried with it being flakey glitter, but after a few days of washing, cooking, just generally using my hands and knocking them off things. There was not a chip in sight or a bit of glitter missing! The nail polish is VERY STURDY so you wouldn't need to worry if you wanted to put it on the night before as it will last! Maybe not if you are working heavy machinery! But i would challenge you to the test ;) As i do believe it still wouldn't matter.

Where to buy & Price
Available at HQHair
(Not available right now, so check out other ESSIE products here)
£10.95

Rating
7/10
The reason for this is because of the time it can take to apply as its a little fiddily, but apart from that its fantastic! I will definitely be using this a lot on my nights out, especially to add a little glitzy glamorous touch.

Disclaimer: I have been gifted this nail polish all opinions are mine. I will never accept a product if i do not like it or work with a company/brand if i do not like them.

AN AUTUMN SHOOT

A few weeks ago a friend contacted me and asked if i would take her photos for her Make up assignments. Of course i said yes! I really want to get as many fashion/beauty shots as i can as theres really where i want to specialise. I really am in love with it, not as in a girly girl way so that means of course i love it. Especially when i see editorial photography my eyes just light up and i have a little buzz inside of me.  So anyway, back to the photos! Her first assignment is i think called Autumn and is mainly about the hair and of course to do with Autumn. She got her friend to model for her, who i think has a gorgeous colour of hair that really matches this assignment! It goes so well with the colours of Autumn. I edited them with an orangey tinge to match the theme and the season. I also helped with the styling, the cardi, glasses and bag are mine. I hope you all like them! Im so proud of them because its my first time ever taking photos for someone and doing something a bit fashioney and beauty wise. Plus ive grown in so much confidence in using photoshop now. Please give me any feedback aswell. So here they are! Dont for get to like my photography page on facebook!

CAN I PLEASE REMIND EVERYONE, ITS NOT ME IN THESE PHOTOS I WAS THE PHOTOGRAPHER! -  keep getting comments insinuating that its me in the photos and its not :)
