Film Review- Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Director
J.J. Abrams

Genre
Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Action, Adventure

Starring
Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Harrson Ford, John Boyega, Mark Hamil, Oscar Isaac, Daisey Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson

Summary
So of course, this film is continuing on the Star Wars saga. Firstly, do you need to have seen the previous films? Well, personally, I think you would be able to get away without seeing them. Although, there will be the the odd thing you won't quite get if you haven't seen them all. At the end of the day though, this is new plot in the world of Star Wars! Aren't there always unanswered questions in trilogies? So really, it's lucky there's actually six other films...

I think this film has done a fantastic job with keeping to the original films, yet being able to create a new story (which means you ARE able to see it without seeing the others). While still making sense and having surprises along the way. One of the main storylines of this film is about a stormtrooper, and how he is unable to do the evil he has been programmed to do. He then goes on to meeting our second main character, Rey, to which, the storyline is also set around. I love the concept of a stormtrooper struggling with the evil, it's something the other films never explored or showed. It's a great new twist to the classic.

Reys background is a little different, as well as being clouded in the unknown. We do not find out so much about her history, except through small flashbacks throughout the movie. She lives in a pretty rugged looking place out in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but sand and junk to scavenge from. All we do learn is, shes been there for a very long time and waiting for someone to come back for her. So once our two protagonists meet, that's when the fun and adventure really starts. At first, Finn (the ex stormtrooper) lies about where he really came from. Stating that he is from the resistance, rather than the rebel alliance. After finding out this, Rey wants his help.

So then Finn, Rey & BB-8 the droid, become a small but worthy team. Of course, it wouldn't be a star wars film without a nod to its past. So of course "mistakenly" & "luckily" they stumble upon the millennium falcon which then takes them on their adventures through the Galaxy. After running into a few troubles, and surprises, Rey stumbles upon a lightsaber. This is also a key part of this film, it indicates where the next few may go and that there are many mysteries to be found! Of course, it wouldn't be new Star Wars film without meeting the old team! Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 & C3PO are all there with a helping hand.

Personal Thoughts
I really really enjoyed it! I just thought the whole concept of the film was amazing, like I said in the summary I loved the twist with Finn being a stormtrooper is brilliant, you never really experience a view from them at all. And they really are such an iconic character in film & history! Plus, the little touches of humour throughout the film was great, and it was that kind of subtle & natural humour. Another reason why I loved it is, because the main character is a female! And she is such a badass! As well as one of the badies being female. I really do think this is important for young girls & woman to see this. You do not see females taking the leads in films like this alot. So huge love from me for this film. Also, we took my big cousins children and her youngest had never seen a Star Wars film. So it's all good!

Grab A Cuppa (or whatever) & Lets Chat

Tyga & Molly O'Malia

So by now, I'm assuming most of you have already heard about this story through various media outlets. I thought it would be a great topic to start this section of the blog off with, and its a very current topic right now! As well as bringing up quite a few issues. I also want to say, I encourage all of you to comment your opinions down below and get involved as mush as possible as this is what I want Tuesdays to be all about. Talking with each other.

Firstly, I want to start off with some of the headlines that have come out about this story.

Now, since all of this has come out, there has been some leaked photos of the actual texts. I'm not going to post any here, just incase due to copyright! Don't want to get caught up in all that... The texts show her clearly lying about her age, but the texts do also show him asking her to "facetime" him. I agree, its totally ok for her to feel intimidated by him asking her to do this. But, to then go onto lie about your age? Clearly stating you are much older than you are? Looks like trouble! It doesn't seem like she is feeling that uncomfortable about their communications. Since she lied about her age AFTER he has asked her to facetime him.

I think the media has been really unfair of the portrayal of all of this. Clearly, a lot of people are on Molly O'Malias side, straight away. I personally feel this is because shes a young girl. So, naturally a sweet looking girl would never be so manipulative would they? But alas, in the revealing of the texts we see her lying about the very thing, the newspapers are shouting about. Her age. So who is really in the wrong here? And is really fair to be judging men, just because of their sex? That they must be the misleading monster. Especially when us females hate it being done to them. For me, feminism is very important. Feminism for me, is also about choice & fairness regardless what your sex is. So, what I mean by that is, you should be able to choose whatever you want to do regardless of your sex, as well as being treated fair regardless of your sex.

I think whats also important for us all to remember is, theres always three sides to a story. One side, the other side & the truth.

I feel the media have immediately jumped to Mollys side because of her age and sex, before really finding out whats happened. If the media knew about the texts before they realize the articles, then thats even worse! It just shows how much mainstream media really loves to stir things and how you really can't believe everything you see in the news. I think its also important to see how unfair and sexist our society is still. Still jumping to outdated normalities.
I feel bad for both of them. Molly, because alot of people are judging her because she lied about her age. Tyga, because people are also judging him for being a bit of a creep. I think everyone needs to remember that there is good and bad in everyone, so sometimes it shows! Maybe, just maybe, they are both a little in the wrong here? But they've also both become victims of their actions by themselves and towards each other. So, naturally, everyone must pick a side... Obviously.

So what are your opinion on this story? Do you define yourself as feminist, if so, how?

Hello Again

Hiya guys, this post is a little overdue now! I did want to do this post sooner and before I started posting my usual stuff but, I got back into the swing of dressing up and blogging a lot sooner than I thought I would! But, as they say, better late than never! & lets be honest, thats the motto and story of my life... Im sure you'll understand the huge disappearance act I performed right before my big day, by that I mean my wedding! Which was, in case any of you didn't realise but, the 27th September 2014. I had plenty of things to keep me occupied and stressed that I just didn't have the same enthusiasm as I usually do for blogging.

I am however, very eager to get back into the swing of things! However, right now due to my current situation its going to be very hard to get back to the way I want things to go. Now I don't remember if I mentioned in my last post or not, but I handed out some c.vs and was really hoping to hear back from somewhere. Well, turns out 2 weeks later I landed myself a job in Next at Silverburn Shopping Centre. So that is one of the main reasons i'm not going to get back in outfit posting like I would like too. Although, I am really wanting to go ahead with that whole blog relaunch that I never actually managed to do... So I think Im going to at least try and plan for other posts and grab outfit photos when I can! But try really really hard to grab photos, even if that means getting ready two/three hours before I'm going out so I can get some posts together.

As I really am dying to start blogging again, I also want to start creating Youtube videos more and taking it alot more seriously like my blog because, for some reason, I REALLY LOVE editing videos! Which is strange, because I LOVE photography yet quite dislike the editing side of it... Weird. I've also got some pretty cool ideas for some video series that I could do. I'm thinking of starting off with a video a week then go on to two depending on everything.

I'm also writing this post to tell you all, that all my social media names will be changing. Since getting married, I chose to take on Chris surname which is Lowe, so I will now be known as Hayley Lowe. I'm also seriously considering changing my whole online persona "Addictions to Shopping" I'm just not quite sure that I want to carry that with me forever online... I don't feel it suits me either. So until I can think about what to do about the whole usernames/social media situation, nothing will be changing, but it will very very soon! So keep an eye out.

Well, thats me for now but I will be back with some posts this week so this ISN'T the last you are hearing from me. This is just me getting started.
